David Robert Johnson is a chef, tall ship sailor, and musician who utilizes his education as a geographer, environmental scientist, and world traveler to create unique and magical culinary combinations and experiences.
David landed in the Bay Area with $300 and a WWII landing craft. He bought a bag of lentils and started making soup, wandering the docks giving glass jars full of his delicious concoctions to anyone who'd try them. Many years and accolades later, Dave has cultivated unique relationships that bring together sustainable food practices, community, art, and maritime culture.
We here at Port & Provisions are interested in creating one-of-a-kind, custom experiences that inspire and make magic, building relationships between people, their communities, and the environment . Utilizing a combination of local chefs, artists, musicians, sommeliers, fisherpeople, sailors, boats, and unconventional venues (often out of doors), we aim to curate extraordinary events and food that elevate our guests, and sustain the waterfront community that we love and call home.
